New & Used Piano Sales

As a piano technician I know a great deal about new and used pianos. As such I'm happy to provide expert advice on the purchase of a new or used piano. There are so many brands and options available that choosing a correct piano is very difficult and can be overwhelming. The worst part of my job is telling folks who just purchased a piano that it is beyond repair or cannot perform at the level they need without significant work.

Here's how I can help:
  • As a concierge buyer -  we agree on a budget. I will shop, purchase, deliver, tune, and repair (if needed)
  • Referral to a reputable dealer. - I'll go with you to a dealer as an expert, no need to worry about sales people.
  • Referral to a reputable re-builder - I can make a referral or bid on the rebuild at my shop! :D
  • Inspection - I'll inspect a piano before you hand over the check.
  • Sales - I often have a few good quality pianos in my shop for sale.

I'll not only be able to comment on quality, but also brand choice. You might be surprised to learn about a new brand or model that fits your tastes.

We'll have a conversation about your needs, preferences, and budget. Generally speaking a reasonable quality used upright will, on the low end, cost $3,500; conversely a new concert grand can cost north of $150,000.  Your budget should be within those numbers.

The two scariest sentences for a piano technician are:
  • "I got it cheap [free] on Facebook/ Craigslist" - usually beyond reasonable repair/ serviceable life.
  • "it conveyed with the home when we purchased it" - moving it costs more than the piano was worth.

A tuned piano strikes a chord!
